Modern cars, which have a number of electronic systems, contain forty or so computers which control both safety equipment (Airbag, ESP®, etc.), those systems designed for comfort (air conditioning, navigation, etc.), and even the engine functions (injection, idle speed, etc.). Giving rise to profound changes in the automotive repair industry, these electronics mean repairers must offer highly specialised technical expertise and an increased understanding of diagnostic procedures.

Automotive repairers have to carry out work on increasingly complex vehicles which require not only high-tech diagnostic tools, but also precise and rapid identification of the parts to be replaced. Based on this fact, and as each offers tools which are not only complementary but also leaders in their sectors, the Autodistribution Group and the Bosch Group's Automotive Aftermarket Division have decided to create an interface which will allow the Bosch KTS 540/570/670 diagnostic tools and the Autossimo independent repair portal to intercommunicate.

Today's cars are packed with electronics, with an average of around forty ECUs that control safety equipment (Airbag, ESP®, …), as well as those handling comfort (air conditioning, navigation, …) or even engine functions (injection, idling, …). Though maintenance and repair of these components are no longer the sole domain of dealerships, thanks in part to multi-make diagnostic tools and technical training, it is no less true that trade in these technical parts for the most part eludes the independent spares sector.
