Technical Parts Program: The Autodistribution group presents its new sales tools

E-mail Print

Arcueil, january 2010

Modern cars, which have a number of electronic systems, contain forty or so computers which control both safety equipment (Airbag, ESP®, etc.), those systems designed for comfort (air conditioning, navigation, etc.), and even the engine functions (injection, idle speed, etc.). Giving rise to profound changes in the automotive repair industry, these electronics mean repairers must offer highly specialised technical expertise and an increased understanding of diagnostic procedures.

With this in mind, and true to its desire to offer its customers comprehensive solutions with high added value, the Autodistribution Group - the French and European leader in the independent distribution of car and HGV spare parts - has decided to position itself as the leader in this market with high growth potential for all parties involved. The Group has therefore launched its "Technical Parts Program", to coincide with the Equip'Auto 2009 trade fair, based on three areas: the technical offering through its technical platforms, training in technical parts provided by the AD institute and marketing tools for aiding sales, designed to promote the technical parts range to stockists and repairers. Amongst the latter are:

  • the "Technical Parts" catalogue for distributors & repairers
This catalogue lists all the original equipment technical parts for aftermarket from the main equipment manufacturers and includes the technical sheets relating to the bestselling products.
  • the "reconditioning range" brochure for common rail systems
This document, intended for repairers, is a six page guide to the operation of common rail Diesel injection systems, which also outlines the advantages of exchange/repair (vastly more attractive prices compared with new common rail components), and gives market indicators and the main references available with their allocations, as well as the sales indicators which repairers need to know (warranty, delivery lead time, etc.).
  • the counter mat for repairers/distributors
All the technical parts families are represented here. A fun, educational tool for quick identification of the function of the part being sought, the counter mat will soon become essential!

Also remember that the Autossimo portal, the Autodistribution Group's cross-business tool, is at the forefront in terms of automotive maintenance. Fast and practical, it allows the technical part being sought to be identified in just one click.

Through all of these resources, the Autodistribution Group is demonstrating its desire to become a genuine partner for repairers in the technical parts market which is still 90% dominated by manufacturers. As Emmanuel Romieu, head of the technical parts market, and responsible for developing sales tools and training for the technical platforms network, explains: "We must succeed in becoming the first choice for technical parts so that we do not miss out on a single sale in this area"

Other tools designed to provide distributors with new development opportunities are currently being created, and these will be launched in 2010.
